Does anyone know who the drummer is on the Badu live disc? That cat really grooves and has a killer snare sound. Thanks, PT.

That's a great album. Poogie grooves his ass off the entire time!
A friend of mine was on the Brian McKnight tour with Poogie in the 90's and said Poogie was TOTALLY insecure about his playing because he couldn't play a lot of chops stuff.
I hope he got over it cause he's a bad motherfucker.
I dont understand how a drummer of this caliber could be insecure with his playing when he has such exceptional pocket and time. You know, chops do not the drummer make!! I know guys with phenomenal chops but cant 2 and 4 happenin to save their lives. Remember, "Keep it in the Pocket". PT.
wow, that is SO spooky!. I recently got hold of the Erykah live CD and was so taken by the drummers playing (I have since found out that it was Poogie!) that I made a mental note to myself to post something about his playing! I was walking down the street with that cd playing and I was in another world! The drums and bass lock like nothing I've in a long time. The feel is Sooo laid back that it's untrue. His time and phrasing are as good as I've heard in any drummer really.
Can anyone point me in the direction of any other stuff he's on?
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">He's done a lot with Marcus Miller (sadly his new album has more tracks with a drum machine than Poogie - In fact Vinnie plays on one track). But yeah he plays on the live album (The Ozwell tapes or something), which I need to get.Originally posted by Dazzler:

He's also on Marcus' live DVD.

Check out his website at Poogiebell.com. You will find a detailed discography. He will be performing with his band at Club Cafe in Pittsburgh on the 25th I believe, for those of you in the Ohio Pennsylvania area. I know what you mean about the bass player and Poogie being locked to the point where it is almost hypnotic. What a privledge to have musicians such as him to listen to and learn from. PT.
